Open letter to the citizens of Newtown, and all other citizens around this country
I am very very sorry this tragedy has happened. My heart goes out to all the children and families that this senseless act has harmed. All are in my prayers. It is time for action, but the correct action is needed. Gun control is not the answer. As criminals don't care about the law or gun control. They will continue to find a way to do harm. Our precious children sitting inside classrooms need more protection around them. Having armed guards as the NRA has offered, is not the answer either. Armed guards can not be everywhere at one time. It is my thought that our schools need as a first line of protection a high chain link fence with barbed wire. It is not uncommon to see fencing around construction sites to protect people and equipment. And yet our most precious of all are sitting in innocence without any protection.  Put a chain link fence around schools with barbed wire, with motion sensors on them, that alarm if the fence is being messed with. Have survelliance of the fence line by cameras placed inside bullet proof boxes that constantly monitor the fence line and is then monitored by an armed retired Combat Veteran inside the school. Our retired combat veterans would feel proud and love to protect our children. By the time someone can cut through the fence or dig under or go over, the police swat would be on the way and the armed combat veteran would be standing over the would be killing gunperson ~face down spread eagle on the ground.  The fencing of schools with one door in and one out. One gate in and out. All exit doors are exit only. 
It may not look esthecially prefect however it would be a first line of defense that would be difficult to get through, that would help protect our children. 
Why we have not already fenced our schools for safety is beyond me. What is the cost of a chain link fence with barbed wire and a closed locked gate, compared to the loss of even one life?  Privitaize the security of schools, then see how many gunmen get into our schools and wrack havoc on the lives of innocent children and their families.
